Why can't objects go faster then the speed of light?

I have studied physics my whole life and we do have most of the fundamental laws at least operationally correct but there is one thing that has always not sit right with me about this, not every thing has mass, we are running into this more and more often as we increase energy levels in experiments, i also think that we need a different experimental model for the search for the higgs, the cms at the lhc from what i have gathered about it does not take into account that the higgs itself may not beable to interact with the detectors themselves, i questioned weather the particle that gives mass once "set lose" could actually not interact with some thing that has mass, not like it would be able to emit a photon or even a electron for that matter, pun intended, it begs the question that at the very fundamental, the absolutely most basic level, there is no going any further down or increase of energy possible, would we even beable to observe that level being as anything that we could use to detect it would inherantly not be able to interact with that level being made of that "feild/partical" itself.

It's because of relativity.

As an object increases in speed, it's mass also increases. A higher mass means it takes more energy to accelerate to a faster velocity which means a higher mass.... and so on.



It works out that it would take an infinite amount of energy to accelerate any mass to the speed of light.

I didn't read your entire book of a question just the first two sentences but the main reason nothing can go faster than light is because in order for something to achieve that it needs unlimited energy and what are you talking about I doubt that you have studied physics as long as you say because if you have you would know if something doesn't have mass it could only go as fast as light not faster duh. proof no matter what we do we still haven't been able to speed light up if you are driving along with the head lights on. and there is a car that's parked has its lights on the two beams are moving the exact same speed that is a fact so if we can't make light go faster how would something else go faster than light.

If any object moves at the speed of light then the mass of that object will be infinitive and the length will be 0 which is impossible. So theres no question of going faster than light.
