but its for school and they want a whole bunch of different answers and i can only think of like one.

its just like a scope on a rifle except it has a bend in it. To compensate for this the image taken from the end reflects off a series of mirrors to take the image directly into the eyepiece. That's how the image goes through the device. Other than that its used a submarine readies to surface. The periscope allows for a 360 viewing of its surroundings for up to 15 miles, without the sub actually surfacing and revealing its position. It was also used as an aimer for firing torpedoes. Although im sure now its much more highly sophisticates
