There seems to be new (albeit controversial) interest in the Vacuum as everything from a renewable source of energy....to a source for the inertial force, mass, and gravity we feel everyday. Will there be such a breakthrough that will change our civilization forever? And will it come from (ironically) what we have always thought was nothing at all?

Once we are capable of harnessing the elusive dark substance in the universe, Quantum vacuum (or Zero Point Energy). Will change the world in a way that not even the discovery of electricity did. Another breakthrough tied to dark matter would also be hyper-space travel. Almost instantaneous travel from Earth to Mars, or to the moon. Or even a weeks long trip to Alpha Centuary.

I think the vacuum may hold a key role in future technology. I believe in the dark matter theory, and I believe a vacuum may be a way to harness this phenomenon.

Yes the Vaccum energy is very inportant when it comes to understanding nanoscale devices.
