could holograms ever exist?

Im not talking about the "Logans Run", science center, optical illusion on a piece of plastic holograms. I mean Star Wars, Star Trek holodeck, CNN's silly gimmick, Jaws ad eating you off the street in Back to the Future 2, popping out of thin air without any 3D glasses kind of hologram.

I'm no scientist but I cant even IMAGINE how this could ever work... how would images be projected into thin air? still be cool if it some day did happen though...
Anyone know if people are even attempting to make this happen?

I see where you say you are not a scientist, perhaps that explains why you are not aware that holograms have existed for some time. Images being "projected into thin air" are NOT holograms by the way.

The thought of holograms is amazing and mesmerizes people. How they work is a new technology involving the same 3D lighting aspects movies like Avatar and the new 3D-TV's are using. How the image is projected into the air is used through thousands of mini-Nano Cameras all specifically set to exact angles. And the lighting is set to stop at exact lengths within the air.

Always take your problem to some expert,he will tell you it can't be done then he will explain why it can't be done and after this he will do it! Holograms are something that will will be just a matter of time before it become reality!

they actually already do. they are created when two projected laser images intersect with the same image to form a 3d picture
