Yes the electron emits light when it goes from higher energy to lower energy level.When electron gets energy more than hv then it goes from valance band to conduction band and when it loses energy and have energy less than hv then it comes down from conduction band to valance band.In this time electron emits light as energy because it has to make its energy lower .
