Shadow means no light. So id light is cut-off or changed shadow will be formed or changed at the speed of light.

Coclusion:

========================================

speed of shadow = speed of light = 3x10^8 m/s

or 186,000 miles/s

The speed of shadow is the same as the speed of light.

The speed of shadow in general may not be related to speed of light. If we consider that shadow would be produced by an obstacle falling in the line between the shadow and source of light, then the speed of shadow should be related to just the relative motion between the source and the obstacle. If we consider that absence of light is shadow, then absence of light means no wave or no photon, then the question of speed is meaningless in the sense like we define the speed of light. So how come the speed of shadow is the same as speed of light...?

Speed of shadow is the speed of its object (the object of this shadow is formed)

For example when you are moving in any open space during day, the speed of your shadow will be the speed with which you are moving. As the origin is fixed to your feet.

You can not compare the speed of light to that of shadow coz shadow needs an object to be formed.

Without light, there is no shadow, if it takes light 1 micro second from obstacle to surface which is 1 foot away, then i guess the speed of shadow is 1 foot/micro second? On second thought, I think the speed of shadow depends on how fast the obstacle is moving :)

Shadow moves with the speed with which the object that creates the shadow moves.

Nathan may be simple but he ain't stupid. A shadow moves at the same speed as the object that causes the shadow.

a shadow is formed when something obstructs light.

Its speed is the speed with which the 'something' moves.

Eg:On a sunny day you see your shadow.

you run ---> your shadow runs.

you stand ---> your shadow stands.

CONCLUSION: Shadow moves with the speed with which the object that creates the shadow moves.
