I have a science project and I don't know where or have found what the uses are for Visible Light, Radio waves, Microwaves, Infrared, Ultraviolet, X-rays, and Gamma-rays. If anyone knows what the uses of the waves are or finds them, I would appreciate it if you could help me.

Visible light--it's visible, so I guess seeing would be good.

Radio waves--communicates to your radio so you can hear broadcast music and news

Microwaves--cooks food in your microwave oven

Infrared--radiant heat is mostly infrared, so a heat lamp makes it. Night vision goggles can see it.

UV--gives you a nice tan

X-rays--see your insides

Gamma-rays--gives you super powers

Visible light - What humans use to see

Radio Waves - exactly what they sound like, used to transmit signals between radios

Microwaves - These type of waves are used in microwaves (hence the name) and are used to heat objects.

Infrared - Often used by military in night vision due to the ability for special cameras to be able to see while humans cannot.

Ultraviolet - Sometimes used to radiate indoor plants as a substitute for sunlight.

X-rays - used in Xray machines to take cross sectional pictures of the body.

Gamma rays - Used in radiation therapy (I think) because of the destructive power of the rays on living tissue. An example would be killing cancer cells.

Visible Light: We use it for seeing.

Radio waves: are used to make and transmit the songs you hear on the radio

Microwaves: are used in microwaves for heating food

Infrared: used in those laser pens

Ultraviolet: used in sun/tanning beds. Also used to check the authenticity of paper money.

X-rays: used to see bones and pick them up on diagrams.

Gamma-rays: not sure, I think they use these for healing some things in medicine, although they are really harmful. Maybe cancer? Or they could be used in radioactive energy.

gamma - radiating food and cosmic rays

xray - xray images, cosmic rays

ultraviolet - invisible (to human eyes) markings, useful for flowers to attract bees

infrared - high energy invisible to humans: heat lamps, radiating heat out

microwaves - energy transmission

radio waves - data transfer

visible light: everything

and get with the program, wikipedia has it all: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_radiation
