In physics class, we've been doing circuits lately using the resistor and battery symbols. Now the teacher wants us to redraw the circuits using ammeter and voltmeter. I understand that ammeters are in-series and voltmeters are parallel, but idk how to draw that in the diagram :/ Can somebody explain or put up an example? Thank you!

Connect Volt meter Parallel with both battery terminals (you know parallel lines | |)

Connect Ammeter series with one battery terminal and resistor(series ___ __ ___).

Battery terminals B1,B2

Volt meter V1,V2

Ammeter A1 A2

Resistor R1,R2

Connect B1V1R1, B2V2A1,A2R2

You are right

there's a picture halfway down this page

If you have more than one resistor in series, you can move the voltmeter around putting it across each resistor in turn, or across pairs of them etc.

Voltmeters measure the voltage between two points. You can't hurt it, unless it's on too low a range and you stick it across the mains.

Ammeters as you say go in series with a load. If you stick them across a battery they will short it out, and (hopefully) blow a fuse - like when I was 8 and decided to "measure the current of the mains" with a 300mA meter ...

To degree the voltage in the time of a particular element in the circuit, you place the leads of the meter in parallel with the element you're measuring -- it extremely is, go away the circuit as is, and fasten one probe to a minimum of one portion of the resistor and fasten the different probe to the different section. To degree contemporary in a branch in the circuit, you're able to be able to desire to place it in sequence in the dep. -- it extremely is, you harm the relationship someplace in the dep., hook up certainly one of your ammeter finally ends up in one portion of the place you opened your circuit, and hook up the different ammeter bring about the different section which you unfold out.
