In a fourth storey office room. I'm having to open the door and hold the window latch in a different way, also filing cabinets, radios etc give it off.

I suspect it's more likely that it's not the radio, door handles, and the filing cabinets, etc that are 'giving off' the static, but you yourself. The simple act of walking on a certain type of carpet (synthetic) with a certain type of shoe (trainers are bad), will cause you yourself to become charged with static electricity. This will get discharged whenever you touch something that has a good connection to earth/ground. Examples of such things are... well... doors, filing cabinets and earthed electrical items such as radios :-)

Try wearing different footwear and see if the problem gets better (or even worse!). Alternatively, make a point of lightly touching office furniture (desks, chairs, etc) as you walk around, and see if the problem gets any better.

If none of this makes any diference, then maybe you are using a piece of office equipment that is becomeing charged with static, and transferring thatcharge to you. Doyou frequentlytouch your computer screen, for exampe? That often becomes charged (especially the older, non-flat screen monitors) and might be causing the problem.

Hope this helps.

Your office probably has a dry atmosphere due to air conditioning. Dry air helps to create static electricity and humid air dissipates the static. The office may have a synthetic carpet which tends to generate static charge on your body when you walk on it. So when you touch something metallic (Window latch, door knob, filing cabinet) the static discharges giving you a zap. Also do you wear synthetic clothes. They tend to generate static when they rub against something. Also do you wear rubber soled shoes/ sneakers. They act as an insulator stopping your static from leaking away. Try wearing natural fibers and leather soled shoes it may help.

Try frequent brushing with a sleeker brush. This will distribute the dogs natural body oils throughout the coat. Also using some Eucalyptus oil in a spray bottle consisting of one cup of water for every 10 drops of oil will help get rid of the static electricity. It will also keep fleas away and help them smell good. Do not use fabric softener sheets though. There are very few on the market that claim to be safe but are not proven.

Is there nylon carpet on the floor? That is one of the main causes of static in my own office. However, trying different shoes can work. Safety shoes, with a steel part to the sole, prevent you building up the static by discharging it immediately to the earth. I used to have to wear them, and there was never any problem.

It's the air conditioning probably.

I've found that the shoes you wear make a big difference. One pair sees me zapped constantly, but wearing another mitigates it quite a bit. Also try to wear just one shirt rather than something else on top.

Probably because the humidity is low and there are carpets on the floors.

There is so much static electricity where you work because you are so attractive.

because there are so many electric cables around you.Try using cotton wear &drapes as they are good electromagnetic wave & charge absorbers.
