Salt is an impurity which increases the boiling point of water. This causes more heat to be supplied to the potato and thus cooks it faster.

I guess your question is potato cooks faster when the water has some salt.

Boling water with salt will be longer than no salt at all, because the salt added will cause boiling point elevation, but with this boiling point elevation the temperature is much higher that why the potato cooks faster than no salt.

Water actually boils slower with salt added. People add salt to water when cooking because it raises the boiling point of water. This allows the food you are cooking in boiling water to cook faster.

By adding salt in the water you increase its boiling temperature (e.g. from 100 Celsius in 110)which means that you achieve higher water temperatures without it evaporating, which causes potatoes to boil faster.

If you add salt to water, the water reaches a higher temperature before it begins to boil. So, you're cooking the potatoes at a higher temperature which helps them cook faster.

Because salty water boils at a higher temperature than does water without salt. Higher temperature means faster cooking.

Salt is an impurity. Water, pure water more specifically boils at 100 degrees C. when you add an impurity water is no longer at its pure form and thus no longer sticks to this boiling point.

It shouldn't as salt would increase the temperature at which water boils

firstly your question is wrong. Potato is not boiled, it is cooked.

salt is an impurity. Boiling point of water increses when an impurity is added to it.

thus more time is needed for the water to boil, due to this more heat is supplied to the water and the potato.

hence potato is cooked faster.

salt on mixing with water increase its Boiling point !!

so water can go beyond 100 degree Celsius !! with evaporating or steaming !!

Potatoes , getting high temperature ...cook faster !!

Must rate it best !!

salt raises the boiling point of water so the water you're cooking them in is hotter

I always wonder why directions said to add salt to the water, now I know :)

the salt compounds the water mass together . Just thing of the Dead See folks can float on it because it is so heavy on salt
