Let us clear up the confusion and get a definitive answer: This is that the three quoted colours are defined as the PRIMARY COLOURS: The explanation- definition- is as follows:

Primary colors are colours that can be combined to make a useful range of colors. For human applications, for additive combination of colours, as in overlapping projected lights , your television set, as examples, the primary colors are RED, GREEN and BLUE. (For interest, the yellow colour you see on your television screen is produced by a combination of green and red light).

For subtractive combination of colours, as in mixing of pigments or dyes, such as in printing, the primaries normally used are cyan, magenta, and yellow.

(There is no combination Red Green and Yellow)

Therefore you fill in your answer as PRIMARY in big capital letters.

RGB - as in your monitor color - color model

CMYK - Print colors Cyan Magenta Yellow Black

Here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGB_color_model

The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. The name of the model comes from the initials of the three additive primary colors, red, green, and blue.

The main purpose of the RGB color model is for the sensing, representation, and display of images in electronic systems, such as televisions and computers, though it has also been used in conventional photography. Before the electronic age, the RGB color model already had a solid theory behind it, based in human perception of colors.

additive primary?

Here's the Wikipedia link- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGB_color_model

Perhaps you can make more sense of it than I can.

All I know is that they're the colors that make up all the other colors on televisions and video cameras. It's called the RGB color model (as opposed to the CMYK model). When you overlap them all, they create white.

White light, also additive as someone previously mentioned. These three colors are combined to create white light.

well red, blue and yellow are primary colours and green is a mixed colour of yellow and blue so that would make it a secondary colour

Additive mild vs. Subtractive mild. this is the former whilst dealing with mild and the latter whilst dealing with pigmentation. by way of the way, crimson yellow and blue are actually not authentic primaries for pigments.
